As individuals living in the modern age, we often fail to recognize the profound impact of small gestures. Our daily routines, which include commuting from our homes to workplaces and back, can make us unaware of the potential value of a kind word, a comforting hug, or a warm smile. These simple actions can hold great significance for someone else, yet we frequently fail to appreciate their impact.
What is the Story Behind This Day?
Since 1995, on February 17, we have observed National Random Acts of Kindness Day. The primary idea of this day is to make the world a little better and brighter through small, kind gestures, actions, and words. This celebration originated in Denver, Colorado, and has been catching fire nationwide and overseas.
In the spirit of 2024, the theme “Make Kindness the Norm” takes center stage, encouraging individuals and organizations to integrate acts of kindness into their daily lives. This theme emphasizes the transformative power of consistent service, moving it from an occasional occurrence to a customary practice.
The Purpose of Random Acts of Kindness Day
Many people enjoy doing simple acts of kindness. It may seem like you are doing something small, but how it impacts others is gratifying. Everybody around the country can celebrate National Random Acts of Kindness Day to inspire others daily. These acts not only bring joy to the receiver, but they also spread positivity to the giver.
Random Acts of Kindness Foundation
The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation is a non-profit organization founded on the belief that kindness is not a mere action to perform one day but that doing random acts of kindness can and should be done every day.
Volunteering is One of the Biggest Acts of Kindness
Volunteering is an incredible act of kindness for our hospice patients and us. At Ascend Hospice Care, we celebrate this day by encouraging our community to volunteer. We are always looking for compassionate and dedicated individuals who are interested in volunteering to help hospice patients.
We Embrace Kindness Every Day
We strive to provide extra comfort, dignity, and love to our patients with progressive illnesses. Volunteers can dedicate as much time as their schedule permits, and your kind help will be very welcome. If you are interested in joining our efforts to spread kindness, please get in touch with us by calling or filling out a volunteer aplication. Let’s make kindness a consistent presence in our lives and communities.
